On 18 May 2009 in Warsaw, in the Knights' Hall at the Military Technical Academy, a founding  meeting of the Polish Society for Safety Engineering.

The meeting was initieted under the initiative of dr hab. inż. Edwarda Kołodzińskiego, prof. UWM and prof. dr hab. inż. Aleksander Olejnik.

He was elected its first Board of Directors, composed of:

-    dr hab. inż. Edward Kołodziński, prof. UWM – president
-    dr hab. inż. Andrzej Skomra, prof. WAT- v-ce president
-    dr hab. inż. Tadeusz  Dąbrowski, prof. WAT– v-ce president
-    mgr inż. Ireneusz Wyglądała – secretary
-    dr inż. Krzysztof Kopczyński – thresor
-    dr hab. inż. Henryk Madura, prof. WAT – board member
-    dr hab. inż. Zygmunt Mierczyk, prof. WAT – board member
-    prof. dr hab. inż. Aleksander Olejnik – board member

 According to the status of PTIB the mission is to develop and propagate the knowledge and practical goals of methods of human activity directed to prevention of risks of security.
